ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 28,
ARTICLE III, SECTIONS 28-50, WATER SERVICE RATES,
AND 28-51, WASTEWATER SERVICE RATES, OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES TO CHANGE THE BILLING
STRUCTURE FOR APARTMENT COMPLEXES AND MOBILE
HOME PARKS; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; PROVIDING A
PENALTY; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Chapter28,Article III,Waterand Sewer Regulations Generally,Section 28-50,
Water Service Rates, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be and the same
is hereby amended by adding subsection (d) to read as follows:
Sec. 28.50. Water service rates.
(d) Apartment complexes and mobile home parks with 4 or more units shall be billed
a minimum monthly water service rate of:
(75% of the number of units) x Minimum monthly water service rate for a 5/8 inch meter

The minimum monthly water service rate includes the volume as calculated below:
(75% of the number of units) x 1000 gallons

Additional usage will be billed based on rates set by the Ordinance.
Section 2.
That Chapter 28,Article 111,Water and Sewer Regulations Generally,Section 28-51,
Wastewater Service Rates, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be and the
same is hereby amended by adding subsection (f) to read as follows:
Sec. 28-51. Wastewater service rates.
(f) Apartment complexes and mobile home parks with 4 or more units shall be
billed a minimum monthly wastewater service rate of:
(75%of the number of units) x Minimum monthly wastewater service rate for a 5/8 inch meter

The minimum monthly wastewater service rate includes the volume as calculated below:

Section 3.
All ordinances or part of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent
of the conflict only.
Section 4.
That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont,
Texas.
Section 5.
That this ordinance is to be effective October 1, 2009.
