RESCINDING ORDER PROHIBITING
THE SALE OF ALCOHOL AND GASOLINE
WHEREAS, pursuant to §418.108 of the Texas Government Code, the Mayor of the
City of Beaumont on the 11th day of September 2008 issued an emergency powers
order prohibiting the sale of flammable products, explosives or alcoholic beverages in
the City of Beaumont due to the imminent threat to public safety posed by Hurricane
Ike; and
WHEREAS, the conditions posing the threat to the preservation of life and property in
the city caused by hurricane Ike have subsided such that the sale of these products do
not present any more of a threat than they would under normal conditions;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED
BY THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
That sections 4, 5 and 6 of the previously issued Emergency Powers order prohibiting
the sale of or flammable products, explosives or alcoholic beverages within the City of
Beaumont are hereby rescinded by this proclamation and retail merchants legally
authorized to do so will be allowed to resume the sale of these products and beverages
to the public.
Be it further proclaimed that the curfew order previously issued shall remain in effect
until rescinded.
