The Minutes of the regular City Council session held August 28 , 1979, were
approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs and seconded by Councilwoman
McGinnis .

Ordinance No . 79-64 changing the zoning from R-2 to LR-1 for an 8 . 936 acre
tract located approximately 300 feet south of the intersection of Gladys
Avenue and Major Drive (requested by Ken Ritter) was considered:

Resolution 79-323 authorizing the purchase of Parcel #49 (879 square foot
tract out of Lot 1 , Chollar Addition for Schwarner Street ) needed for the
Community Development Block Grant Project (B-77-PAC-48-0003) at a cost of
$1 , 585. 00 was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and se-
conded by Councilman Evans.

Resolution 79-324 accepting the bid of Donald D. Engle for an Oil and Gas
Lease on Beaumont Municipal Airport property ($75. 00 per acre or $20,658
for one-year lease plus J royalty for any minerals discovered) was approved
on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Combs.

Resolution 79-325 accepting the bid of the Xerox Corporation for furnish-
ing a copier for one year at $365. 00 per month for use by the City Manager ' s
Office was approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs and seconded by
Councilman Evans.

Resolution 79-326 accepting as completed the work performed under a demoli-
tion contract on Pearl , Highland and East Florida Streets with Olshan
Demolishing Company, Inc . and authorizing final payment of $24 ,450 . 00 was
approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Coun-
cilman Evans .

Resolution 79-327 authorizing advertisement for bids for the construction
of a 5-million gallon ground storage tank at the site of Loeb Well No. 1
was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by
Councilman Evans .

Resolution 79-328 accepting the bid of Glen D. Beard for the installation
of a 20 ' x 115 ' aluminum parking canopy at the Traffic Operations Building
at a cost of $4 , 213 .00 was approved on a motion made by Councilman Combs
and seconded by Councilwoman McGinnis .

A resolution authorizing execution of a lease agreement for the purpose
of drilling an oil and/or gas well in an alley in Block 31 , Calder Addi-
tion for six (6) months at $500. 00 per month was deferred one week for
action.

Resolution 79-329 authorizing the City Manager to execute a street mainte-
nance agreement with the Boise Southern Company for a logging operation
using Charles Street , Bigner, and E. Lucas and providing the City with a
Performance Bond in the amount of $250, 000 was approved on a motion made by
Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Combs .

Resolution 79-330 authorizing application for an Environmental Protection
Agency Step II Federal Grant to provide 75% funding for engineering and
design work for proposed improvements to the sanitary sewer system as set
forth in the 201 Facilities Plan was approved on a motion made by Council-
man Evans and seconded by Councilman Combs. (Total project estimated
$32, 000, 000)

Mayor Meyers introduced Mr. Joe DiBacco, new Manager for Liberty Cable TV.
Mr. J. C. Leggett , 1849 Washington Boulevard, addressed Council to complain
about broken curbs and pavement on Euclid at Avenue C and to also request
that the budget for FY 80 be reduced as much as possible.

with the City Council Workshop Session.
