. The minutes of the regular City Council session held February 27 , 1979 ,
were approved on a motion made by Councilwoman '1,R,,Ginnis and seconded by
Councilman Evans .

Mr . Bill Ferrell , Fleet ?,4aintena-rice Department , was selected for membership
into the National Safety Counc -ills ' Experts Maintenance Club .
Mr. Hosea Kenebrew, Solid Waste Department , rece _ved the City of Beaumont ' s
1978 Driver of the Year Award
Resolution 79-84 authorizing the purchase of seventeen tracts of land for
the Community Development Block Grant Project (Stewart Street - 4A at
$12 , 540 00 , #6 at $360. 00 , -#7 at 1�760. 00, #7A at $1 , 150; Lamar Street -
#15 at 40, 00, #18 at $670. 00 , ` 19 at S810. 00, i`°21 at $752 . 00, #30 at
$7 , 382 , 50; Schwarner Street - #38 at $1 , 760 , 00, ;"44 at 54 , 310, #44A at

Resolution 79-85 authorizing Ray A. Riley, City Manager ; Myrtle Corgey,
City Clerk; and R. J. Nachlinger , Finance Officer , as official signatories
for the City of Beaumont and revoking all other resolutions was approved on
a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman ;"Williams.

Resolution 79-86 authorizing execution of a utility easement to Gulf States
Utilities Company adjacent to the west side of 'fain Street from Forsythe
to College and across the southeast part of the Library parking lot for
the main Street Project was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman
McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Evans .

Resolution 79-87 authorizing the release of ;580, 000 in securities (total
pledged by American National Bank - $46 ,325, 000) was approved on a motion
made by Councilman Combs and seconded by Councilwoman McGinnis .

A resolution accepting the bid of Vaughn and Associates , Inc. for furnish-
ing nine (9) baseball scoreboards for the Parks and Recreation Department
was considered. A motion to approve the resolution was made by Councilman
Evans and seconded by Councilman Combs . A discussion was held; no vote
was taken on the motion to approve; and the item was tabled for one week.

Resolution 79-88 accepting the bid of Oil City Tractors , Inc. for furnish-
ing one flail mower for use by the Parks and Recreation Department at a
cost of $1 , 336 . 09 was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis
and seconded by Councilman Combs.

Resolution 79-89 accepting the bid of Bella Company for the construction
of the Fourth Street Project from north of College to Calder at a cost of
$518,654 . 52 was considered. Councilman Williams made a_ motion to table
the resolution for further study; motion died for lack of a second. Coun-
cilman Combs made a motion to approve the resolution; Councilman Evans se-
conded the motion.

Resolution 79-90 accepting the bid of Remex, Inc . for furnishing one mechan-
ical file for the Personnel Division at a cost of 156 , 995. 00 was approved on
a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Combs .

Resolution 79-91 accepting the bid of Bogel Sales, Inc . for furnishing 3 , 000
pounds of calcium hypochlorite for the Parks and Recreation Department at a
cost of $2 , 206. 50 for use in the swimming pools and fountain was approved on
a moti-n made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Evans .

Community Services Building located at 650 iMain Street was approved on a
motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Evans .

$118 , 000 . 00 was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman 'McGinnis and
seconded by Councilman Combs,

Mrs. Annie Stewart , 2381 Delaware St.reet , addressed Council to present a
petition signed by residents of the 2300 block of Delaware requesting -that
"no parking" signs be posted or, D,-Iaware rrom Concord to Cleveland.
Mr. Charles Gibbs , 1035 Washing-For Boulevard , addressed Council to com-
plain about requirements for trash pickup and also to request that park-
ing be allowed on Washington at least narttime .
Mr. J . '-. . Leggett , 1849 Washing .(-)-: Boulevard , addressed Council to complain
that wy,. cker drivers are not renj 1-)\71ng, glass when wrecked cars are picked up .
