CITY COUNCIL - CITY OF BEAUMONT
HELD AUGUST 23 , 1977
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont , Texas, met
in regular session this the 23rd day of August , 1977, with the following
present :

The Invocation was given by the Reverend Bob Malone, Trinity United Metho-
dist Church.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Evans.

Mayor Ritter issued the following proclamation : "Senior Citizens Day in
Beaumont" - August 27, 1977.

The Minutes of the regular City Council session held August 16, 1977 , were
approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman
Evans .

Resolution 77-236 authorizing the award of bid to Dresser Industries for
furnishing six (6) 6" and two (2) 12" butterfly valves for the Water Distri-
bution Division at a cost of $1750. 74 was approved on a motion made by
Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman Cash.

Resolution 77-237 rejecting all bids received for furnishing a compactor
for the sanitary landfill and authorizing the re-advertising for bids was
approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman
Cash.

Resolution 77-238 authorizing the award of bid to Pump House Supply for
furnishing a Meyers Triplex plunger pump for use in the Sewer Maintenance
Division at a cost of $2150. 00 was approved on a motion made by Councilman
Evans and seconded by Councilman Cash.

Resolution 77-239 authorizing payment to George P. Baine Company for emer-
gency repairs in the amount of $3 ,401 .81 to dozer #50-5010 for use by the
Solid Waste Division was approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and
seconded by Councilman Evans .

Resolution 77-240 authorizing the acceptance, for City maintenance, the
water , sanitary sewer, storm sewer , and street improvements in Dowlen West ,
Unit XV, Lots 1-4, Block 28 and Lots 1-11 , Block 29 (Centenial Circle) was
approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman
Evans .

Resolution 77-241 authorizing the acceptance, for City maintenance, the
water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and street improvements in Summerwood
Division, Sections I and II (Edson Drive) was approved on a motion made
by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Cash.

Resolution 77-242 authorizing the City Manager to release two (2) assess-
ment paving liens (Home Addition - $1200. 00 and Virginia Estates Addition
- $907. 50; David E. Simon, owner) was approved on a motion made by Council-
man Cash and seconded by Councilwoman McGinnis .

Resolution 77-243 authorizing the settlement of the eminent domain styled
City of Beaumont vs . Hubert Oxford ($117, 000 - acquisition for Civic Center
site) was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by
Councilwoman McGinnis.

Ordinance No. 77-90 appropriating $3935. 71 from Unappropriated Fund Balance
to Account 79-413 for the settlement of claims involving accidents at Fourth
Street and Washington Boulevard, as authorized by the City Council August
17, 1977, was considered:

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE FISCAL
BUDGET OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE
PERIOD COMMENCING OCTOBER 1 , 1976, AND
ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1977 , BY APPROPRIATING
$3, 935. 71 FROM UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE
TO ACCOUNT NO. 79-413 FOR THE SETTLEMENT
OF CLAIMS INVOLVING ACCIDENT AT FOURTH
STREET AND WASHINGTON BOULEVARD.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded
by Councilman Williams.
