BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
met in regular session this the 17th day of May, 1977 , with the follow-
ing present:

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilwoman McGinnis.

Mayor Ritter issued the following proclamations : "World Trade Week" -
May 22-28 , 1977; "National Public Works Week in Beaumont" - May 22-28 ,
1977; and "Beaumont Action for Foster Children Week" - May 15-21, 1977 .

Mr. Bruce Allred, President of the Young Men' s Business League, and
other YMBL Board members, presented a check for $20,000. 00 to the City
for purchase of seats for the Fair Park Arena.

The Minutes of the regular City Council sessions held May 3 and May 10 ,
1977, were approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and secon-
ded by Councilman Evans.

Resolution 77-140 authorizing the advertising for bids for the construc-
tion of Crow Road between the Eastex Freeway and Concord Road (CAP 45-
ST-12/071-74-112) was approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and
seconded by Councilman Evans.

Resolution 77-141 authorizing the award of bid to Renco Supply Company
for furnishing 5,000 pavement markers for City streets ($1,650. 00 or 33�
each) was approved on a motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded
by Councilman Cash.

Resolution 77-142 authorizing the award of bid to Olshan Demolishing Com-
pany, Inc. for the demolition of 20 dilapidated structures in Census Tract
17 (Com. Develop. Block Grant) at a cost of $19,977 . 00 was approved on a
motion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Cash.

Resolution 77-143 authorizing the award of bid to Plains Machinery Com-
pany for furnishing one (1) 50 ,000 pounds working weight dozer for the
Fleet Division at a cost of $104 ,700. 00 was approved on a motion made by
Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Evans.

Resolution 77-144 authorizing the City Manager to commence negotiations
for rights-of-way needed for Brooklyn Street (Census Tract 17 - Community
Development Block Grant Program, Parcels 17-24 - Jack C. Aulbaugh, owner)
was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Council-
woman McGinnis.

Ordinance No. 77-52 appropriating $13 ,700 from unappropriated street con-
struction funds and authorizing payment of same to the State Department
of Highways and Public Transportation as part of City' s share for the
resurfacing of 11th Street from Smart Street to IH-10 ($59 ,700. 00 - City' s
total share; $46,00.0 . 00 previously appropriated) was considered :
ORDINANCE NO. 77-52
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE FISCAL
PERIOD COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 1976 , AND
ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1977, BY APPROPRIATING
$13 ,700 FROM UNAPPROPRIATED STREET CONSTRUCTION
FUNDS TO PROJECT NO. 71-76-300, THE ELEVENTH
STREET PROJECT; THAT THE APPROPRIATE CITY
OFFICIAL BE AUTHORIZED TO DEPOSIT THE AMOUNT
OF $13 ,700 IN THE APPROPRIATE STATE DEPARTMENT
OF HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION ESCROW
ACCOUNT FOR THIS PROJECT.

ded by Councilman Williams.

Resolution 77-145 authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement
with Florida Construction and Biloxi Pre-Stress Concrete, Inc. for use
of the City' s bridge over Brake' s Bayou (while constructing the Pine Street
Interchange Project) was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans
and seconded by Councilwoman McGinnis.

Ordinance No. 77-53 establishing the fee for X-rays was considered:

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING A TEN DOLLAR
($10. 00) FEE FOR A TUBERCULOSIS X-RAY TEST
AND TEST RESULT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY
AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Williams and
seconded by Councilman Evans.

Resolution 77-146. authorizing the execution of a Quitclaim Deed to the
State Department of Highways and Public Transportation for the water
line right-of-way located within the right-of-way of IH-10 and Pine
Street Interchange was approved on a made by Councilwoman McGinnis and
seconded by Councilman Evans.

Ordinance No. 77-54 changing the name of that portion of Anderson Street
from French Road to Concord Road to "Carlisle Drive" - PTA requesting
name change in honor of Paul Carlisle, principal of Eugene Field Elem-
entary School for 24 years and who is retiring - was considered:

PORTION OF ANDERSTREET TO CARLISLE DRIVE.
