CITY COUNCIL - CITY OF BEAUMONT
HELD JANUARY 18 , 1977
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
met in regular session this the 18th day of January, 1977 , with the
following present:

The Invocation was given by the Reverend Glenn Moore, First Christian
Church.
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Councilman Williams.

Mayor Ritter issued one proclamation: "Camellia Days in Beaumont" -
January 22 & 23 , 1977.

The Minutes of the regular City Council session held January 11 , 1977 ,
were approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by
Councilwoman McGinnis.

Resolution 77-13 approving the budget for the Beaumont Convention and
Visitors Bureau ($188 ,257. 83 - funds from Hotel-Motel Occupancy Tax)
and authorizing the disbursement of funds was approved on a motion made
by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Evans.

Ordinance No. 77-7 authorizing the transfer of funds from Account 79-420
(Contingency) to Account 71-415 (Special Services of the Health Depart-
ment) ; and authorizing payment to Dr. Paul N. Fortney for services ren-
dered as Acting Health Officer was considered:

BUDGET OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT FOR THE
PERIOD COMMENCING OCTOBER 1, 1976, AND
ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 1977 , BY TRANSFERRING
$1,000. 00 FROM ACCOUNT 79-420 TO ACCOUNT
71-415 AND PROVIDING FOR THE PAYMENT TO
DR. PAUL N. FORTNEY OF $1,000. 00 FOR SER-
VICES RENDERED AS ACTING HEALTH OFFICER
FOR A TEN-WEEK PERIOD.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Williams and
seconded by Councilman Evans.

Ordinance No. 77-8 amending Ordinance No. 76-62, providing for regulation
of parking on property owned by the City of Beaumont, bounded by Main
Street, Hickory Street (abandoned) and the Port of Beaumont railroad yard •
was considered:

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 37 ,
SECTION 37-115. 3 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, RESTRICTING PARKING
IN THE CITY PARKING LOT; PROVIDING A PENALTY;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR
REPEAL.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and se-
conded by Councilwoman McGinnis.

Resolution 77-14 authorizing the acceptance, for City Maintenance, the
water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and concrete pavement improvements
in Beaumont West, Unit I (Bryant Way from Gladys Street north approxi-
mately 520 ' to dead end) was approved on a motion made by Councilman
Evans and seconded by Councilman Williams.

Resolution 77-15 accepting a grant offer from the Urban Mass Transporta-
tion Administration for transit operating assistance funds in the amount
of $203 , 974 . 00; and authorizing the City Manager to execute an "offer of
contractual assistance" (UMTA Project TX 05-4014) was approved on a mo-
tion made by Councilwoman McGinnis and seconded by Councilman Williams.

Resolution 77-16 authorizing payment to Mid-County Rental Service for
rental of dozer for work at the landfill (275 hours with operator -
$9 ,590. 00) was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and secon-
ded by Councilwoman McGinnis.

Ordinance No. 77-9 establishing the new subdivision street lighting
policy of the City of Beaumont was considered:

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 42 OF
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
BY ESTABLISHING STREET LIGHTING STANDARDS IN
SUBDIVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND
PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Williams and
seconded by Councilman Evans.
