HELD MAY 30, 1974
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met in
special session this the 30th day of May, 1974 , with the following present:
HONORABLE: Ken Ritter Mayor
Don Cash Councilman, Ward I
Calvin Williams Councilman, Ward III
Absent: George Dishman, Jr. Councilman, Ward II
Leroy Evans Councilman, Ward IV
Appointed Officials : Kenneth Devero City Manager
Kenneth Wall City Attorney
Myrtle Corgey City Clerk

The Invocation was given by Mr. J. D. Martin, Public Works Program Coordina-
tor.

An ordinance canvassing the votes cast in the run-off election held May 28 ,
1974, for Councilman, Ward II, was considered: (Included in part)
ORDINANCE NO. 74-39
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF
THE RUN-OFF ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF BEAUMONT
MAY 28, 1974, FOR COUNCILMAN, WARD 2; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, in a" session duly
called this 30th day of May, 1974, proceeded according to law to canvass the
returns of the run-off election which was held on May 28 , 1974, and the elec-
tion returns of the votes cast in said election were duly canvassed for the
following position:
For the office of Councilman for the 2d Ward
WHEREAS, after duly canvassing said returns, the City Council found
that the votes cast at said election for the candidates for said office were
as follows:
Councilman Ward 2
Vi McGinnis 4 , 500 votes
W. L. Pate 3, 076 votes
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That the results of the run-off election be and the same are hereby
declared to have been as hereinabove set out, and that the following named
officer is hereby declared elected:
Councilman for the 2d Ward: Vi McGinnis
That notice of said election was duly and properly given as required
by law and provided in the ordinance calling for said run-off election, and
that said election was duly and regularly held and the returns thereof were
duly and regularly made by the proper officials of said election and in all
things according to law.
The ordinance was approved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded
by Councilman Williams.
