HELD JANUARY 8 , 1974
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met
in regular session the 8th day of January, 1974 , with the following present :

The Minutes of the regular meeting held January 2, 1974 , were approved on a
motion made by Councilman Dishman and seconded by Councilman Evans.

In response to an advertisement previously published, the following bids for
furnishing eighteen (18) automobiles for the Police Department were received:
Beaumont Motor Company $ 66,387 . 96
Caraway Motor Company $ 71, 500. 00
Kinsel Ford, Inc. $ 67, 500. 00
The bids were referred to the City Manager and staff for study and recommenda-
tion on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman Dishman.

In response to an advertisement previously published, the following bid for
construction of offices for the 3rd floor of the Police Department (Crime
Prevention Unit) was received:
T. C. Gray, Inc. $11, 170. 00 5% bid bond with 45 working days
The bid was referred to the City Manager and staff for study and recommenda-
tion on a motion made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Evans.

A resolution authorizing the award of bid for furn-ish-ing reef oyster shell
and sand-shell mix requirements to Keown Supply Shell C"
and best bidder was approved on a motion made by Councilman as the lowest
an Evans and seconded
by Councilman Williams.

A resolution authorizing the award bids to Sabine Consolidated, inc.
(13-Mi-05 - $872, 793.55 and 13 $282, 017 ,, 00) and Mar-Len, Inc. (E3 J-07
$7800 695. 00) for construction of w.-,..ter transmission lines was approved on a
motion made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Cash.

A resolution rejecting bids and authorizing the readvertising for bids on re-
vised IuIans for the construction of a -.,.iiL,y s8 vice Cen't-er, CIP Project No.
ll-WU-G_" , was approved on a motion made Coumcilman Di�hman and seconded by
CounciLraan Evans.

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute a license agreement with
Southern Pacific Transportation Company and authorizing the payment of $50. 00
for the license agreement was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans
and seconded by Councilman Cash.

A resolution authorizing the American National Bank to pledge an additional
$1, 145, 000 in collateral was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans
and seconded by Councilman Cash.

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to accept a Sewer Grant from En-
viron-mental Protection Agency was approved on a motion made by Councilman
Evans and seconded by Councilman Dishman.

A resolution authorizing- the application of the Beaumont Police Department
to the Criminal Justice Council for a radio-telephone recording system was
approved on a motion made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman
Cash.
