CITY COUNCIL CITY OF BEAUMONT
HELD NOVEMBER 13, 1973
BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas, met
in regular session on the 13th day of November, 1973, with the following
present:

The Minutes of the regular session held November 6, 1973 , were approved on a
motion made by Councilman Dishman and seconded by Councilman Evans.

A resolution authorizing the award of bid for furnishing equipment necessary
;or conversion of 2 Leeds & Northrup pH Recorders in the Water Production
%vision to Leeds & Northrup Company in the amount of $1,456.50 as the lowest
and best of informal bads received was approved on a motion made by Council-
Evans and seconded by Councilman Cash.

Permission to advertise for bids for furnishing the following equipment for
the Fleet Maintenance Department was requested:
Fire Department - One (1) Pumper Truck complete

One Cl) 4 Cubic Yard Street Sweeper

Water Department - One (1) Tractor Type Back Hoe with an approximate
digging depth of 18 feet.
Permission to advertise for these items was granted on a motion made by Coun-
Vilman Cash and seconded by Councilman Dishman,

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an application to the
Texas Criminal Justice Council for a Grant to make funds available (with the
Beaumont Police Department committing $3 , 500 in kind match) for the purpose
of a Records Management Study for the Beaumont Police Department was approved
on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman Evans.

resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an agreement with the City Mana-
ger for the payment of insurance proceeds received by the City on policies
assigned by the City Manager to the City of Beaumont was approved on a motion
made by Councilman Dishman and seconded by Councilman Evans.

A resolution authorizing the American National Bank to withdraw $855, 000 and
pXedge $1, 050, 000 in securities was approved on a motion made by Councilman
Ovans and seconded by Councilman Cash.

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an agreement with the
$pvironmental Protection Agency accepting a grant for sewer construction
was approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman
DIshman.

A resolution stating that the City Council intends to acquire a tract of land
at fair market value out of Block 4 of the Laurel Heights Subdivision, Beau-
mont, Texas, for the construction and extension of Phelan Boulevard was ap-
proved on a motion made by Councilman Cash and seconded by Councilman Evans.

qouncilman Cash asked the City Manager what the City plans to do to con-
serve energy during the Energy Crisis. Mr. Devero stated that there had al-
ready been a meeting of Department Heads and that each was to submit sugges-
tions concerning this for discussion at the Thursday workshop.
