BE IT REMEMBERED that the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas met in regular session
on the 10th day of July, 1973, with the following present:

The Minutes of the regular meetings of June 26, 1973 , and July 3, 1973 were
approved on a motion made by Councilman Evans and seconded by Councilman
Dishman.

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City received bids on June 14, 1973, for audio equipment
for Police Public Service Unit; and,
WHEREAS, Brock Audio, Inc. submitted a bid for furnishing said audio
equipment; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid submitted by
Brock Audio, Inc. is the lowest and best bid and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the bid of Brock Audio, Inc. in the amount of One Thousand Seven Hundred
Twenty-Three and 40/100 ($1, 723 .40) Dollars be accepted by the City of Beau-
mont.

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on July 3, 1973, The City of Beaumont received bids for furnish-
ing one automobile for the Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, Caraway Motor Company submitted a bid for furnishing said auto-
mobile; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid submitted by
Caraway Motor Company is the lowest and best bid and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the bid of Caraway Motor Company in the amount of Three Thousand Four Hun-
dred Ninety-Nine and No/100 ($3,499. 00) Dollars be accepted by the City of
Beaumont.
PASSED by the City Council this 10th day of July, 1973 .

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City received bids on July 3, 1973, for purchasing a mini-
size truck for use in the Engineering Department; and,
WHEREAS, Jimmie Himmel Datsun Company submitted a bid for furnishing
said mini-size pick-up truck for the Engineering Department; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid submitted by
Jimmie Himmel Datsun Company is the lowest and best bid and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the bid of Jimmie Himmel Datsun Company in the amount of Two Thousand Six
Hundred Ninety-One and 30/100 (2,691.30) Dollars be accepted by the City of
Beaumont.

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, George T. Kinard has tendered an easement to the City cf Beau-
mont for sanitary sewer purposes over and across property owned by him in the

City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, said easement being dated June 8 ,
1973; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the purposes of said easement
and is of the opinion that the acceptance of said easement for sanitary sewer
purposes only is necessary and desirable and that the same should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That said easement tendered by the above named to the City of Beaumont be and
the same is hereby in all things accepted.

used on various parks in the city on a motion made by Councilman Evans and
seconded by Councilman Cash.

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Harold E. Brown has tendered an easement to The City of Beau-
mont for sanitary sewer purposes over and across property owned by him in the
City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas, said easement being dated June 13 ,
1973; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the purposes of said easement
and is of the opinion that' the acceptance of said easement for sanitary sewer
purposes only is necessary and desirable and that the same should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That said easement tendered by the above named to the City of Beaumont be and
the same is hereby in all things accepted.

WHEREAS, Ben J. Rogers, Individually and as Trustee, has tendered two
(2) easements to the City of Beaumont for street and utility purposes over and
across property owned by him in the City of Beaumont, Jefferson County, Texas,
said easements being dated May 30th, 1973; and,

WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the purposes of said easements
and is of the opinion that the acceptance of said easements for street and
utility purposes is necessary and desirable and that same should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That said easements tendered by the above named to the City of Beaumont, be,
and the same are hereby, in all things accepted.

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Rosine McFaddin Wilson and William Epps Wilson, each individu-
ally and each as Trustee of the Rosine Blount Wilson Bar-C Trust and the Wil-
liam Epps Wilson, Jr. , Bar-C Trust and Eugene H. B. McFaddin, has tendered an
easement to the City of Beaumont for the laying, constructing, maintaining
and operating of utility facilities, said easement being dated March 14 , 1973 ;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the purposes of said easement
and is of the opinion that the acceptance of said easement for general utility
purposes is necessary and desirable and that same should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That the said easement tendered by the above-named to the City of Beaumont be
and the same is hereby in all things accepted.

The following resolution was introduced and read:
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont and Olshan Demolishing Co. , Inc. executed
a certain contract on November 10, 1972, for demolition and disposal of the .
Mariposa Street Viaduct in the City of Beaumont at a total contract price of
Sixty-Nine Thousand Eight Hundred E-ighty-Eight and No/100 ($69,888 . 00) Dollars;
and,
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont and Olshan Demolishing Co. , Inc. have
agreed to reduce the contract price by the amount of Two Thousand Nine Hundred
and No/100 ($2, 900. 00) Dollars, as the City accepts the project "as is" ; and,
WHEREAS, The City Engineer has inspected the work and recommends its
acceptance and final payment to the contractor;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUD40NT:

That the City of Beaumont hereby accepts the completion of the aforesaid con-
tract in all particulars and does further authorize the final payment of
Sixty-Six Thousand Nine Hundred Eighty-Eight and No/100 ($66, 988 .00) Dollars
to the contractor.

A resolution authorizing or rejecting the award of bid for sale of parts of
unimproved land out of Lots 3 and 4 of the Calder Court Addition was considered
as follows :
A motion to authorize the award of bid was made by Councilman Dishman and se-
conded by Mayor Ritter. Motion failed for lack of majority vote.

WHEREAS, WALTER PARKER, JAMES F. SMITH, D. F. SANDERS, DALLON PERMENTER,
DR. PEPPER BOTTLING Co. , INC. , E. R. BAKER, MRS. LOUISE HAMILTON, GARRIE A.
WOOD, THOMAS H. GANTT, JR. , ROBERT GILLESPIE, E. B. MCCARBLE, GLADYS R. RAYON,
D. F. SANDERS, GEORGE BATTLES, JOE ARAGON, WAFERD B. WEAVER, WAFERD BO WEAVER,
MRS. ANNE P. EZELL AND i. O. SIMMONS, the owners of said properties, respectively
desires to pay to the City of Beaumont the monies represented by said liens and
have same released to them;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
That Ken Ritter, Mayor, be, and he is hereby authorized to execute and deliver
tq the said WALTER PARKER, JAMES F. SMITH, D. F. SANDERS, DALLON PERMENTER, DR.
=EPPER BOTTLING Co. , INC. , E. R. BAKER, MRS. LOUISE HAMILTON, GARRIE A. WOOD,

ip consideration of the sum aforementioned, receipt of which is hereby acknow-

Mayor Ritter stated that his office had received complimentary comments from
farmers and crop dusters who had been able to utilize the facilities of the
Municipal Airport and of Mr. Sheffield and his staff.*_*' These farmers and crop
dusters had not been able to use their own facilities due to the heavy rainfall
in our area.
