HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 04-097 ORDINANCE NO. 04-097 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 5-37 OF CHAPTER 5, ARTICLE III OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS, ESTABLISHING THE ANIMAL HEALTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That Section 5-37 of Chapter 5, Article III of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont, Texas be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Sec. 5-37. Animal health advisory committee established. (a) There is hereby established an animal health advisory committee of the city to act in an advisory capacity to the city council and to the department of health concerning rules and regulations pertaining to the operations of the animal shelter and to make recommendations to the director of public health concerning animal control by the city. (b) Such committee shall consist of six (6) members composed of the city veterinarian, the director of health, the city animal control supervisor, a representative from the Beaumont Police Department and two (2) individuals from the Humane Society all of whom shall be appointed for two (2)-year terms. (c) The advisory committee shall meet as needed. Section 2. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. Section 4. That any person who violates any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
