MR. RAY A. RILEY, CITY MANAGER:
With their. . .annually, the City of Beaumont, as many other cities do,
ask for, request for grant assistance from the Department of Mass
Transit. This requires a public hearing concerning the application for,
from the Federal Government for assist, for federal assistance with
regarding to all of the funds that are used. Basically speaking for
operations, the manner in which we are eligible for the grant, is that
of the total revenues from the fare box is applied against the total
operating cost, and then the net deficit is split between Local
Government and the Federal Government. In this case, we're anticipating
next year the local assistance being required would be $700, 000. 00 as
part of the grant application, which is a 50-50 match for the deficit in

provides for capital projects which is normally an 80-20 pro-rata split
between local and federal, with local picking up 20%. There are three
projects that are involved in the application this year. One is to
renovate the BMT offices at a total cost of $30, 000. 00, which would
require a local match of $6, 000. 00; replace the bus stop signs of some
