Because the zone change was denied, no official vote was taken or required for the Specific Use
Permit.
Councilmembers Goodson and Smith encouraged developers of the proposed residential care unit
to pursue their goal in meeting the needs of senior citizens by providing assisted living
accommodations and explained that they support the project, but denial is based only on the
inappropriateness of the facility in this location and the commitment that must be honored to the
neighborhood. Councilman Davis concurred with comments of Councilmen Goodson and Smith
and invited consideration of Ward III as a location for the facility.
