R E S O L U T I O N
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
WHEREAS, Jefferson County, Precinct 4 removed the surface
of Walden Road in preparation for reconstruction on September 6, 1990
and needed lime slurry for stabilization of the sub-base in order for
the work to proceed in an orderly and expeditions manner; and,
WHEREAS, without the necessary materials from the City
Walden Road would have to be blocked from all traffic resulting in
an inability of emergency vehicles to serve the property owners along
Walden Road or use the road to serve other portions of the City; and,
WHEREAS, this closed condition of Walden Road was dangerous
to the public safety and the procurement of 284 tons of lime slurry
was necessary to complete the road in a timely fashion to protect the
public safety; and,
WHEREAS, informal bids were taken and the lowest bid
meeting specifications was that of Chem Lime of Alvin, Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to approve
payment to Chem Lime of Alvin, Texas, for approximately 284 tons of
lime slurry at a total cost of $22,573 . 64 for the reconstruction of
Walden Road per an interlocal agreement between Jefferson County,
Precinct 4 and the City of Beaumont.
