R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, funds were appropriated in the 1989 CDBG Final
Statement of Objectives and Projected Use of Funds for grants to
public service agencies that serve primarily low and moderate
income persons; and,
WHEREAS, agencies participating must be non-profit
corporations and show evidence of need and must have long-range
plans to maintain their facilities after rehabilitation and/or
demonstrate that the grants will be used for new programs or
expansion of existing programs to serve greater numbers; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined, after reviewing the
proposals of various agencies and the recommendations of the CDBG
Citizens Advisory Committee, that the grant funds should be
apportioned as follows:
Rehabilitation of Facilities

Goodwill Industries 2 , 680
Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation 10, 000
Women and Children's Shelter of
Southeast Texas 7, 671
Administration and Operation
Nutrition and Services for Seniors 11, 600
Family Services Association of Beaumont 6, 140

American Red Cross 6, 000
March of Dimes 6,260
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the foregoing allocations are hereby approved and the
City Manager is authorized to execute contracts with the
subrecipients.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, in additional to the
aforementioned allocations, the Triplex Minority Business
Development Center be granted the sum of fifteen thousand dollars
($15, 000) from fu; s appropriated for Economi- Development in the
CDBG program and the City Manager is hereby authorized to executive
a contract with the Triplex Minority Business Development Center.
