WHEREAS, the Beaumont City Council allocated Fifty
Thousand Dollars ($50,000) in CDBG funds for program year 1956 to
be used for public service activities; and,
WHEREAS, on February 12, 1987, the CAC voted unanimously
to forward their set of recommendations to City Council for final
approval as follows:
Beaumont/American Red Cross 5; 5,000.00
Beaumont Nutrition for the Elderly 2,000.00
Central Day Care Center 19,200.00
Family Services Association/Family Shelter 9, 992.00
Some Other Place 5,000.00
Texas Black Alcoholism Council 8,808.00
and,
WHEREAS, at the request of City Council, the CDBG
Statement Subcommittee reconvened March 16, 1987 to meet with
representatives of the agencies which requested funding in order to
receive any additional information or comments related to their
projects; and,
WHEREAS, upon review of the information provided by the
applicants in relationship to its original recommendation, the
subcommittee voted unanimously to accept the CAC' s original
recommendation without change; and,
WHEREAS, staff has received additional information
concerning some of the proposals which were submitted and have been
able to better judge the merits of each proposal; and,
WHEREAS, staff is requesting that the following public
service agencies be funded from the 1986 CDBG program year:
Family Services Association/Family $ 9, 992.00
Shelter
Some Other Place 5,000.00
Texas Black Alcoholism Council 8,808. 00
YMCA - .Melton Branch 26,200.00
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,;
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter
into contracts in the following amounts with the following
subrecipients of CDBG funds allocated for the 1986 progrant year:
Family Services Association/Family $ 91992.00
Shelter
Some Other Place 5,000.00
Texas Black Alcoholism Council 8,808.00
YMCA - Melton Branch 226,200.00
