WHEREAS, Westpark Development Company, as a charitable
and philanthropic gesture, desires to donate 0.599 of an acre of
property at the southeast corner of Gladys and Major to the City of
Beaumont to be used for the widening and improvement of Major
Drive; and,
WHEREAS, H. G. Nichols and others, as a philanthropic and
charitable gesture, desires to donate 0.430 of an acre of land on
the west side of Major at the intersection of Gladys Street to the
City of Beaumont for the widening and improvement of Major Drive;
and,
WHEREAS, the Dowlen Family, as a philanthropic and
charitable gesture, desires to donate 5. 327 acres of right-of-way
immediately west of Dowlen Road for the proposed extension of
Delaware from Dowlen Road to Major Drive where it would connect to
Dishman Road; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the purpose of
said donations and is of the opinion that the acceptance of said
donations of property is necessary and desirable and that same
should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the donations of property, as described herein for major
street improvements tendered to the City of Beaumont be, and they
are hereby, in all things accepted, and the City expresses its
gratitude to the donors for this charitable gift.
