WHEREAS, the city intends to participate in a 12-month
pilot program for mechanized refuse collection for residential
refuse pickup; and,
WHEREAS, on March 5, 1985, the City Council authorized
the purchase of two (2 ) 20-cubic yard automatic packer bodies to be
mounted on city chassis and 1 , 700 100-gallon size containers from
Government Innovators, Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona for $175,990; and,
WHEREAS, the city intends to enter into a 60-month lease
purchase agreement to finance the purchase of this equipment; and,
WHEREAS, it is provided that should the city decide to
discontinue the pilot program at the end of a 9-month period, the
manufacturer will buy back the equipment at two-thirds (2/3 ) of the
original purchase price; and,
WHEREAS, proposals have been taken for a five (5 ) year
lease/purchase financing agreement for the acquisition of the
automated equipment; and,
WHEREAS, Security Pacific Leasing Corporation of Houston
submitted a proposal at an interest rate of 7 .65%; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the
proposals submitted by Security Pacific Leasing Corporation of
Houston is the lowest and best bid and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized to enter
into a five (5 ) year lease/purchase agreement with Security Pacific
Leasing Corporation of Houston at an interest rate of 7.56% for the
acquisition of two (2 ) 20-cubic yard automatic packer bodies to be
mounted on city chassis and 1 ,700 100-gallon size containers for
the residential refuse collection pilot program.
