WHEREAS, on April 7 , 1986, bids were received for the
purchase of two (2 ) electronic truck scales with file layout and
source code; and
WHEREAS, Beaumont Scale Co. of Beaumont, Texas submitted
a bid in the amount of $84, 750; and,
WHEREAS, the specifications required performance and
payment bonds to be furnished to the city within ten ( 10) days
after award; and,
WHEREAS, Beaumont Scale Co. was neither able to secure
the bonds through a surety company nor were they able to furnish a
letter of credit; and,
WHEREAS, the city holds a Cashier' s Check in the amount
of $4, 237. 50 from Beaumont Scale Company as a forfeiture and this
money will go into miscellaneous revenues; and,
WHEREAS, C .M.I . Weighing Equir-nent Division, Oklahoma
City, Oklahoma, has been contacted and will honor their bid of
$82, 917 and have forwarded their Performance and Payment Bond;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid
submitted by C .M.I. Weighing Equipment Division, the second lowest
bidder, is the best bid received and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the bid submitted by C.M.I. Weighing Equipment Division in the
amount of $82, 917 for the purchase of two (2 ) electronic truck
scales for installation and use at the landfill site on Lafin Road
be accepted by the City of Beaumont.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
the day of 1986.
