R E S O L U T I O N
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMO NT:
THAT the City hereby approves funding from the Community
Development Block Grant Program (B-84-MC-48-0003) for historic
preservation rehabilitation loan projects to provide for
restoration work for the exterior of the structures, as described
in Exhibit "A" attached hereto, in the amounts as follows:
Goodhue Building $43, 500
Land Manor, Inc. 30,000
Samuel James 9,780
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City hereby approves a
contingency of Three Thousand Nine Hundred Seventy Dollars ($3,970)
in funding from the said program.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this

* HISTORIC PRESERVATION
SYNOPSIS OF PROPOSALS
1984
Goodhue Building - 398 Pearl Street
Funds requested: $43,500.00
This property is included in the Commercial Historic
District which is listed on the National Register of Historic
Places. The structure is owned by Mr. W.E. Wilson, Jr. and
the facility is used for leasing of commercial office and
retail space in downtown Beaumont. The use of the property
will not change after restoration. Cost for previous
restoration include $6,000 out-of-pocket.
Funds are requested to:
Restore, repaint and reglaze 460 wood windows on the
Goodhue Building. This work is to include the complete
removal of all old putty and bedding material , priming
all of the area to be re-glazed, and re-bedding glass
with all of the necessary and required materials.
Land `•ianor, Iric. - 1608 Orange Street
Funds requested: $30,000.00
Land Manor, Inc. is a non-profit agency designed as
a residential treatment facility for the mentally ill , the
mentally retarded, alcoholic and drug dependent individuals,
and public offenders. The use of the property will not
change following restoration. Cost for previous restoration
includes approximately $172,000.00 in grants.
Funds are requested to:
Repair and replace roof of structure at 1608 Orange
Street which includes removing all tile roofing and
storing for re-use, removing and discarding underlayment,
replacing all necessary wood decking, laying roll roofing
for underlayment, and applying existing tile roofing and
replacing any broken or missing tile.

Funds requested: $9,780.00
This is a single-family residential structure. The use
of the property will not change after restoration. Cost for
previous restoration included $4,000.00 out-of-pocket and
private lender, and $36,000.00 in COBG funds.
Funds are requested:
Provide exterior painting, repairing outdoor col'umns and
porches, repairing windows , and replacing thirty-three
(33) window screens.
