ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN STRUCTURES TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND ORDERING THEIR DEMOLITION AND/OR REPAIR; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares the buildings located at: 1180 Ashley 2490 Monroe 1149-51 Bolivar 1185 Powell 2177 Foch 3685 Preston 2778 Goliad 3855 Preston (Shed & Corral) 3050 Grand 1030 Schwarner 2115 Hemlock 1040 Schwarner 4060 Highland 1050 Schwarner 2003 Irving 1060 Schwarner 390 Langham Road 5300 Seale Road 1720 Leiper 3725 St. Helena 2475 McFaddin 1530 Victoria 4115 Woodlawn 4045 Willie Mae to be a public nuisance in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of age or dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or property. Section 2. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, 1 Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance: 1149-51 Bolivar 1185 Powell 2177 Foch 3685 Preston 2778 Goliad 3855 Preston (Shed & Corral) 3050 Grand 1030 Schwarner 2115 Hemlock 1040 Schwarner 4060 Highland 1050 Schwarner 2003 Irving 1060 Schwarner 390 Langham Road 5300 Seale Road 1720 Leiper 3725 St. Helena 2475 McFaddin 1530 Victoria 4115 Woodlawn 4045 Willie Mae Section 3. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the following described building either demolish, repair or initiate a work program for repair of said structure within ninety (90) days of the effective date of this ordinance: 1180 Ashley 2490 Monroe 2043 Irving Section 4. The following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by the City of Beaumont on account of the owners thereof and such expense of demolition and removal shall be assessed as a special tax against the properties upon which the buildings are situated. The following structures were heretofore declared to be public nuisances in 2 violation of Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City: 6765 Bigner Road 1325 Madison 3140 Cooke 3960 Octavia 675 Dixie Drive 2320 011ie 385 Frederick 5465 Phelps Road 2635 Hazel 1157 Powell 3965 Houston 5280 Seale Road 545 Jackson 2970 Texas 2365 Lela 2560 Washington Blvd. 990 Pear 995 Doucette Section 5. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 6. That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
