ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21,
SECTION 21-75 TO AMEND THE GRADES AND POSITIONS
IN THE BEAUMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
THAT Section 21-75 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be and the same
is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 21-75. Same - Police Department
The following grades and positions are hereby created in the Police Department:
(1) Grade I -There shall be one hundred seventy-three (173) positions in Grade
I, said positions being Police Officers.
(2) Grade II -There shall be sixty-nine (69) positions in Grade II, said positions
to include police sergeants and detectives.
(3) Grade III -There shall be fourteen (14) positions in Grade III, said positions
being Police Lieutenants.
(4) Grade IV-There shall be five (5) positions in Grade IV, said positions being
Police Captains.
(5) Deputy Chief- There shall be three (3) positions.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the
application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this
ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are
declared to be severable.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, including conflicting
portions of the City Budget, are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
