WHEREAS, an agreement has been negotiated for the acquisition of land for the
replacement of Fire Station No. 6 currently located on Glendale Street, Beaumont, Texas;
and
WHEREAS, only the west three hundred feet (300') of the property will be needed
for the fire station replacement and Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 is requesting
acquisition of the east five hundred feet (500') to be used as a spoil area; and
WHEREAS, a thirty-foot (30') drainage easement along the southern edge of the
subject property is needed by Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 for improvements
to Jane's Gully located south of the subject property;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the purchase of the following parcel for the replacement of Fire Station No. 6 be and
the same is hereby approved:
2.758 acres out of Lot 15, Block 1 of the Wescalder Fig Acres Addition
(168.79 feet north of Washington boulevard on the west side of South
Major Drive)
Value of the Whole: $40,000.00
City's Portion (300 feet): $15,000.00
Owner: V.J. O'Shell, DDS, MSD, Inc. Pension Plan and Trust
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to convey the east 500-feet to Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 for $25,000 for use
as a spoil area; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized
to grant a thirty foot (30') drainage easement along the southern edge of the City's
property to Jefferson County Drainage District No. 6 for improvements to Jane's Gully.
