WHEREAS, the lawsuit of Felicia Adams v. Richard Wayne Odom et al , has been
discussed in an Executive Session properly called and held Tuesday, March 31, 1998;
and,
WHEREAS, the Council desires to authorize the settlement of the lawsuit;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT-
THAT the City Attorney be, and he is hereby, authorized to settle the lawsuit of Felicia
Adams v. Richard Wayne Odom et al, in the amount of Seventy-Thousand ($70,000.00)
Dollars.

ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ISSUING AN AMENDED
SPECIFIC USE PERMIT TO ADAPTIVE LIVING CENTER,
INC. TO ALLOW A NEW WAREHOUSE IN FRONT OF THE
FACILITY LOCATED AT 2750 S. FOURTH STREET ZONED
GC-MD (GENERAL COMMERCIAL MULTIPLE FAMILY
DWELLING DISTRICT) BEAUMONT, JEFFERSON COUNTY,
TEXAS.
WHEREAS, on May 18, 1982, City Council approved Ordinance 82-49 issuing a
Specific Use Permit for vocational training of the adult clients/employees located at 2750
S. Fourth Street in a GC-MD (General Commercial Multiple Family Dwelling District) for
the property described as Lot 6, Block 4, S. 20' of the E. 245' of Lot 7, Block 4 and the S.
15' of the W. 85' of Lot 7, Block 4, Fourth Street Acres Addition to the City of Beaumont,
Jefferson County, Texas, containing 0.82 acres of land, more or less, as shown on Exhibit
"A" attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes; and,
WHEREAS, the applicant, Adaptive Living Center, Inc. wishes to build a new
warehouse in front of the facility; and,
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Beaumont
considered the request to amend the Specific Use Permit to allow a new warehouse in
front of Adaptive Living Center, Inc.; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the amendment of such specific
use permit is in the best interest of the City of Beaumont and its citizens, subject to the
hereinafter described conditions;
