HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 92-82 ORDINANCE NO. �1'�?� •Z ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE FINDING CERTAIN STRUCTURES TO BE PUBLIC NUISANCES AND ORDERING THEIR DEMOLITION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Beaumont hereby finds and declares the buildings located at: 3175 Dorothy 1010 IH 10 East (Commercial) 1390 Liberty #1 & #2 2704 Grand 1555 Elgie 3675 Glenwood 808 Isla 3414 St. James 808 Isla (Shed) 2585 S. 4th (Garage Apt.) 810 Isla 2595 S. 4th 1235 Maple 2555 S. 4th (Garage Apt.) 1245 Maple 2525 S. 4th (Commercial) 1525 Linson 1590 College 2440 Forrest 3106 W. Crockett 1044 Forrest 1089 Gladys (Commercial) 1094 Cottonwood 445 Langham (Commercial) 2095 Grand 1770 Herring 240 Lethia 740 Grant 3595 Scranton 720 Grant 2145 Renaud 2355 Euclid 2055 Hayes Lane 883 Gladys 4870 Ironton each to be a public nuisance in that said buildings violate Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont and are for want of repairs, or by reason of age or dilapidated condition, likely to cause or promote fires that would endanger persons or property. Section 2. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2 of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas, and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owners or owners of the following buildings either demolish or repair said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance. 3175 Dorothy 1390 Liberty #1 & #2 1010 IH 10 East (Commercial) 2704 Grand 1555 Elgie Section 3. In accordance with Article XVII, Section 2, of the Charter of the City of Beaumont, Section 10-2 and 14-52 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas and Section 103.4 of the Standard Building Code, it is hereby ordered that the owner or owners of the following described buildings demolish and remove said structures within thirty (30) days of the effective date of this ordinance: 3675 Glenwood 3414 St. James 2585 S. 4th (Garage Apt.) 2595 S. 4th 2555 S. 4th (Garage Apt.) 2525 S. 4th (Commercial) 1590 College 3106 W. Crockett 1089 Gladys (Commercial) 445 Langham (Commercial) 1770 Herring 740 Grant 720 Grant 2355 Euclid 883 Gladys 808 Isla 808 Isla (Shed) 810 Isla 1235 Maple 1245 Maple 1525 Linson 2440 Forrest 1044 Forrest 1094 Cottonwood 2095 Grand 240 Lethia 3595 Scranton 2145 Renaud 2055 Hayes Lane 4870 Ironton Section 4. The following structures are hereby ordered to be demolished and removed by the City of Beaumont on account of the owners thereof and such expense of demolition and removal shall be assessed as a special tax against the properties upon which the buildings are situated. The following structures were theretofore declared to be public nuisances in violation of Chapter 14, Section 14-50 of the Code of Ordinances of the City: 1595 Avenue A 2240 Jacobs 1405 Cable 1064 Long 1960 Cable 1599 Madison 1425 Corley 450 Manning 1427 Corley (Rear) 1828-30 Sabine Pass 2037 Corley 1840 Sabine Pass 385 Frederick (Garage Apt.) 1840 Sabine Pass (Garage Apt.) 2150 Gill 1080 Trinidad 831 Gladys (Commercial) Section 5. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 6. That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
