HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 91-52 ORDINANCE NO. 91-5"� ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 14 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO REPEAL THE MINIMUM HOUSING CODE AND ENACT THE 1991 EDITION OF THE STANDARD HOUSING CODE; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL AND PROVIDING A PENALTY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: Section 1. That Chapter 14 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby amended by repealing Article 1 and the same being Code Sections 14-1 through 14- 18 inclusive. Section 2. That Chapter 14 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Beaumont be amended to add Section 14-1 to read as follows: There is hereby adopted by the City for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations attendant to the use and occupancy of residential buildings and assessory structures that certain code known as the 1991 Edition of the Standard Housing Code. One copy of such Standard Housing Code has been and now is filed in the office of the City Clerk of the City and . the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, and from the date on which this section shall take affect, the provisions thereof shall be controlling concerning the matters set out in said Code. Section 3. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only. Section 5. That any person who violated any provision of this ordinance shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
