ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6 , SECTIONS
6-70, 6-71, AND 6-72(B) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF
THE ELECTRICAL BOARD OF REVIEW; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That Chapter 6, Section 6-70 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Beaumont is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 6-70:
There is hereby created the Electrical Board of
Review, consisting of seven (7 ) appointed
members, and the Electrical Inspector, who shall
be an ex-officio member. The appointed members
of the board shall be appointed by the City
Council and have the right of one (1 ) vote each.
The Electrical Inspector shall act in an
advisory capacity only and shall not have the
right to vote.
The appointed members of the Electrical Board of
Review shall be qualified as follows: One (1 )
Electrical Engineer; one (1 ) Master Electrician;
one (1 ) Electrical Contractor; one (1 ) General
Contractor; one (1 ) Architect; and two (2)
members from the community-at-large.
Section 2 .
That Chapter 6, Section 6-71 of the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Beaumont is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 6-71:
The seven (7 ) members of the Electrical Board of
Review shall serve for a term of three (3 )
years. Any member of the board may be removed
by the governing body of the city for cause.
Vacancies within the board shall be filled by
appointment for the unexpired term. The members
of the board shall serve without compensation.
Section 3 .
That Chapter 6, Section 6-72(b) of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Beaumont shall be amended to read as follows:
Section 6-72(b) :
Four (4) members of the board present at any
meeting shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business, and a majority of the
members present and voting shall be necessary to
constitute an official action of the board.
Section 4 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 5 .
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only .
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this
