ORDINANCE NO. - 90
ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE ANNEXING THE HEREINAFTER
DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF BEAUMONT,
JEFFERSON COUNTY, TEXAS, AND EXTENDING THE
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE
THE SAID PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS, AND
GRANTING THE SAID TERRITORY AND TO ALL
INHABITANTS THEREOF ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND
PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS; AND BINDING SAID
INHABITANTS BY ALL OF THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES
OF SAID CITY.
WHEREAS, two ( 2) public hearings were held concerning
the proposed annexation of the territory described in Exhibit "A"
attached hereto for all purposes. Said public hearings were held
on March 19 , 1984 and April 16 , 1984. At the public hearings , all
interested persons were provided an opportunity to be heard; and,
WHEREAS, such public hearings were held not more than
forty ( 40) days nor less than twenty ( 20) days prior to the
institution of annexation proceedings ; and,
WHEREAS, notices of such public hearings were published
in the newspaper having general circulation in the City of
Beaumont, Texas not more than twenty ( 20) nor less than ten ( 10)
days prior to such hearings ; and,
WHEREAS, the territory lies adjacent to and adjoins the
present boundaries of the City of Beaumont, Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
THAT the land and territory lying adjacent to and adjoining the
present boundaries of the City of Beaumont, Texas and described in
go 7 so - d'?
Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part hereof for all purposes,
is hereby added and annexed to the City of Beaumont, Texas; said
territory shall hereinafter be included within the boundary limits of
the City of Beaumont, Texas; the present boundary limits of such City
at the various points contiguous to the area hereinafter described in
Exhibit "A" , are altered and amended so as to include said area
within the corporate limits of the City of Beaumont, Texas; such
property shall be within Ward 2 for purposes of municipal elections.
Section 2.
The described territory in the area so annexed shall be a part of the
City of Beaumont, Texas, and the inhabitants thereof, if any, shall
be entitled to all the rights and privileges of all the citizens and
shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions and regulations
of the City of Beaumont, Texas.
Section 3.
Chapter 10, Section 10-21 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Beaumont is hereby amended to add 180. 34 acres to be the property
hereinafter described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made a part
hereof for all purposes. The Service Plan for such annexed area
attached hereto as Exhibit "B" is hereby approved.

LAND BEING MORE FULLY BOUNDED AND DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS:
BEGINNING at a point in the centerline of an existing drainage ditch for
the southwest corner of the herein described tract, said corner also being
an angle point in the westerly city limits line of the City of Beaumont and
being located North zero degrees four minutes twelve seconds West (N 000
04' 12" W) a distance of two thousand six hundred ten and fifty-two

herein described tract, North zero degrees four minutes twelve seconds West
(N 000 04' 12" W) for a distance of one thousand three hundred
seventy-seven and forty-eight hundredths feet (1377.48' ) to the northwest
corner of said 400 acre tract and of the herein described tract, said
corner also being in the south line of Dishman Road, a sixty foot (60' )
wide road right-of-way;
THENCE with the south line of Dishman Road, the north line of said 400 acre
tract, and the north line of the herein described tract, North eighty-nine
degrees fifty-nine minutes zero seconds East (N 890 59' 00" E) for a

Subject: Request for annexation of 180 acres
Should the subject land be annexed, the following basic scope of
municipal services would be provided:
- Water Service.
The subject property would be provided with water service from
the extension of a 24-inch water line located in Major Drive
. (FM 364) .
- Sanitary Sewer Service.
The subject property would be provided sanitary sewer service
from a 54-inch force main which would tie to existing facilities
within the city limits.
- Storm Drainage.
All development within the proposed annexation area will be
addressed according to specifications from the City Engineer's
office. Storm runoff from all new development will be accepted
into the ditch which runs southward towards Major Drive and
then south.
Solid Waste Collection.
Solid waste collection will follow the normal pattern for resi-
dential areas.
Fire Protection.
Fire protection would be provided by Stations #9 and #6 at 7010
Gladys and 1155 Glendale, respectively.
Police Protection.
Normal police patrol service will be provided for the annexed
property. This area falls into police patrol districts 6 and 7 .

Maintenance of Publicly Dedicated Community Facilities.
Dedicated Streets : Streets which will be dedicated by way of
subdivision plat will be maintained by the City: upon acceptance
by the Director of Public Works as per the normal procedure.
Dedicated parks or playgrounds : Any lands intended to be dedicated
for recreational purposes will receive individual review by the
Director of Parks and Recr°ftt do as. ll as the Planning Depart-
ment to see that they are..,,cgz1s, s.tgnt s.with the City' s Comprehensive
Park and Open Space Plan prior to their "acceptance.
Street Lights.
Street lights in new platted subdivisions within the annexed
area are to be provided at the developer's expense as per the re-
quirements of the current Street Light Ordinance. The locations
are determined by the Traffic Department in conjunction with Gulf
States Utilities.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION
The Planning Commission recommended approval of the annexation by
a vote of 5 to 0 .
