ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE CONFIRMING THE APPOINT-
MENT OF A POLICE CHIEF AND ESTABLISHING
ELEMENTS OF COMPENSATION; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
That the appointment of John Kent Swan ( herein "Swan" )
as Police Chief of the City of Beaumont heretofore made by the City
Manager, Karl Nollenberger, be and the same is hereby confirmed.
Section 2 .
The in addition to normal benefits of City employees, City
shall provide Swan the following:
1 . The City shall contribute monthly to the International
City Management Association Retirement Corporation a sum equal to
10. 5 percent of Swan' s base salary for his benefit. In addition to
the City' s contribution to said plan, the City agrees to deduct from
Swan' s base salary and pay to said plan such amounts as Swan may from
time to time request.
2. The City shall pay Swan, as compensation for housing
differential the sum of $100.00 per month for 24 months.
3 . Swan shall, upon employment, be entitled to 30 days of
short-term disability leave.
4. The City will reimburse Swan for reasonable moving
expenses incurred in connection with the moving of household goods ,
including packing, unpacking , insurance, transportation and other
expenses for moving his family from Roselle, Illinois to Beaumont,
Texas.
Section 2 .
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular
set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the remaining portions of
this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions
of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3 .
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
