F.?-IWI ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21, SECTION 21-74 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TO PROVIDE FOR GRADES, CLASSIFICATION, PAY SCALES, AND OTHER BENEFITS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND ALSO RATIFYING AN EXTENSION OF THE LABOR AGREEMENT; PROVIDING FOR SEVERAB-LITY; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE; AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT., Section 1. THAT Chapter 21, Section 21-74 of the Code of Ordinances be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 21-74. All positions in the police department of the city are hereby classified into the following grades. Each grade having duties of substantially similar authority, importance and responsibility: (1) Grade I . There shall be one hundred forty-five (145) positions in Grade I , said positions to include patrolmen. The base pay of every officer in this grade with less than one (1) year of service shall be one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500. 00) ; the base pay of every officer in this grade with more than one year' s service, but less than two (2) years service shall be one thousand five hundred ninety-four' dollars ($1,594. 00) per month; the base pay of every officer in this grade with two (2) years or more service but less than three (3) years of service shall be one thousand six hundred forty-seven dollars ($1,647.00) per month; 'the base pay of every officer in this grade with three (3) years of service but less than four (4) years of service shall be one thousand seven hundred dollars ($1 ,700. 00) per month; the base pay of every officer in this grade with four (4) D -A2-1.21 /o-s Sa, 1 v-ars of service but less than five (5) years of service shall be one thousand seven hundred fifty-two dollars ($1,752. 00) per month; and the base pay of every officer in this grade with more than five (5) years of service shall be one thousand eight hundred five dollars ($1 ,805. 00) per month. (2) Grade II. There shall be sixty-seven (67', positions in Grade II, said positions to include sergeants and detectives. The base pay of every officer who has been in this grade .less than five (5) years shall be one thousand nine hundred eleven dollars ($1,911.00) per month; and the base pay of every officer in this grade with more than five (5) years of service in said grade shall be two thousand sixteen dollars ($2,016. 00) per month. (3) Grade III. There shall be twelve (12) positions in Grade III, said positions to include police _lieutenants. The base pay of every officer in this grade shall be two thousand one hundred eight-four dollars ($2,184.00) per month. (4) Grade IV. There shall be nine (9) positicns in Grade IV and the base pay of every officer in this grade shall be two thousand three hundred seventy-four dollars ($2,374. 00) per month. (5) Grade V. There shall be three (3) positions in this grade and the base pay of every officer in this grade shall be two thousand five hundred seventy-four dollars ($2,574. 00) per month. - 2 - (6) There shall be one (1) position in Grade III and the base pay shall be two thousand seven hundred sixty-nine dollars ($2,769. 00) per month. Section 2. Execution of an extension of the existing labor agreement with the International Brotherhood of Police Officers, Local 491, a copy of which extension is attached hereto, is hereby ratified and approved. Section 3. That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall in no wJ_se affect the remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. Section 5. This ordinance shall be effective October 1 , 1982. Since the current contract expires at midnight, September 30, 1982, please notify IBPO Local 491 Chief Negotiator Ronald G. DeLord or me at the earliest possible time prior to the deadline. If this extension is not acceptable to the City of Beaumont, please advise me if any alternatives are proposed by the city. Your immediate attention to this very important issue is appreciated. Williamson President Accepted this 30th day of September, 1982 subject to 1. 5-1/2% across-the-board wage increase effective October 1, 1982, except in the entry level which shall be $1500 per month. 2.
