ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 30,
SECTION 39, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT ADDING TWO (2) ALTERNATES TO
THE HISTORICAL LANDMARK COMMISSION; PROVIDING
FOR SEVERABILITY AND PROVIDING FOR REPEAL;
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1 .
THAT Chapter 30, Section 30-39, of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Beaumont be, and the same is hereby , amended to read
as follows :
Section 30-39(a) (1) :
The Historical Landmark Commission shall con-
sist of nine (9) members and two (2) alter-
nates appointed by the City Council,
including the following:
a) One member shall be a member of the City
Planning Commission;
b) One member shall be a licensed architect;
c) One member shall be a licensed attorney;
d) One member shall be a professional
historian;
e) One member shall be a member of the
Beaumont Heritage Society;
f) One member [shall be a member] of the
Jefferson County Historical Commission.
All members shall have knowledge and
experience of the architectural,
archaeological, cultural, social, economic,
ethnic and political history of Beaumont.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or phrase
of this ordinance, or the application of same to a particular set of
persons or circumstances, should for any reason be held to be
invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the -remaining portions of
this ordinance, and to such end the various portions and provisions
of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.

Section 4.
Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of the
Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
