ORDINANCE NO. 71- la 7 ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE READOPTING THE PARKS AND OPEN SPACE ELEMENT OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING SAME TO REDESIGNATE THE THE JEFFERSON COUNTY T-B HOSPITAL SITE AS A "SPECIAL PARK" , PROVIDING FOR SERVABILITY. WHEREAS, by Resolution 80-203 the City Council adopted a Parks and Open Space Element as a component of the Comprehensive Plan; and, WHEREAS, said Parks and Open Space Plan originally recommended acquisition of the Jefferson County T. B. Hospital site as a "community park" ; and, WHEREAS, Jefferson County subsequently agreed to sell siad hospital site to the City of Beaumont on the condition that its use would be limited to a new art museum which provides "passive recreational facilities" ; NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the Parks and Open Space element of the Comprehensive Plan be readopted as amended to designate the old Jefferson County T. B. Hospital site on Delaware Street as a "special park" instead of a "community park" as shown on the attached Exhibit "A" which is hereby adopted and made a part hereof as if copied verbatim herein.
