ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER
28; ADDING A NEW SECTION 28-55 REQUIRING
CONNECTION TO THE SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM;
THE WATER SYSTEM; PROVIDING REQUIREMENTS;
PROVIDING FOR A PERMIT; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL; AND
PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Chapter 28 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Beaumont is hereby amended by adding a new Section 28-55 to read
as follows:
Section 28-55 .
All property owners owning property within the city which is
within 300 feet of the city sanitary sewer, measured from the
property line of such owner to such sewer shall be required to
connect all water closets, urinals, sinks, and other such sewage
producing devices with such sewer and with the water main or water
supply as may be within 300 feet of their property. No person
shall make any connection with, or any opening into, any public
sewer without a permit from the Building Inspections
Superintendent. Applications for permits shall be made in writing
to the Building Inspections Superintendent by the property owner,
or this authorized agent. Such application shall give the exact
location of the property, the name of the owner, and the name of
the person employed to do the work.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 3.
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.
Section 4.
Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of
the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
