ENTITLED AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 6
SECTION 6-111(b) TO ADOPT THE NATIONAL
ELECTRICAL CODE 1981 ; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL;
AND PROVIDING A PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
Section 1.
That Chapter 6 , Section 6-111(b) of the Code of
Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 6-111(b) .
Conformity of electrical installations with the applicable
standards set forth in the National Electrical Code shall be prima
facie evidence that such installations are reasonably safe to
persons and property; provided that the provisions of this article
shall prevail over the National Electrical Code in case of
conflicting provisions. The National Electrical Code of 1981,
adopted by the National Fire Protection Association, and all
amendments thereof, is hereby adopted, and the same is hereby made
a part of this article as fully and to the extent as if copied
herein in full. One copy of such code has been and now is filed
in the office of the city clerk.
Section 2.
That if any section, subsection, sentence, clause or
phrase of this ordinance, or the application of same to a
particular set of persons or circumstances, should for any reason
be held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect the
remaining portions of this ordinance, and to such end the various
portions and provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
Section 3 .
All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are repealed to the extent of the conflict only.

Section 4 .
Any person who violates any provision of this ordinance
shall, upon conviction, be punished as provided in Section 1-8 of
the Code of Ordinances of Beaumont, Texas.
