BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has been notified by the Office of the Governor,
Criminal Justice Division, that the Governor's Criminal Justice Division is preparing to award
Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant funds to local units of government; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont has been determined to be eligible to receive a grant
under this initiative in the amount of$73,109.00; and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont would be required to provide a cash match of 10%
or $8,123.00 making a total project budget of$81,232.00; and
WHEREAS, the Beaumont Police Department has reviewed the federal requirements for
Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grants and the potential positive impact grant funding
would have on operations of the Beaumont Police Department regarding juvenile offenders and the
investigation of offenses committed by juveniles; and
WHEREAS, the grant funding would greatly facilitate the police department's programs
related to investigating, identifying and expediting the prosecution of juvenile offenders and
establishing and maintaining interagency information-sharing programs that would enable the
juvenile and criminal justice system to make informed decisions regarding the early identification,
control, and supervision of juveniles who repeatedly commit serious delinquent or criminal acts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT, the City Manager, Stephen J. Bonczek, be and he is hereby authorized to execute
all documents necessary to:
Apply to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, for funding available
under the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant to states; and
Accept the grant if approved by the Criminal Justice Division; and
Receive and disburse grant funds; and
Take such other actions as may be necessary to implement the purposes and operations
of the Juvenile Accountability Incentive Block Grant program.
