The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551. World War 1 was thought to be the vvar to end all Wars by many residents of Beatiniont,'rexas and tine country, To celebrate the ending of World War I, the Colonel George Moffett Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution "DAR" rallied the community to donate towards Cite creation of a temple. Despite it being the time of "The Great Depression," there Was a fervor of Patriotism among the citizens and they donated enough flmcls to construct the'reruple It, 1931. Since Its openhtg and to tills day, the'lemple serves as a War Museum which is open to the public on Palrlotic Holidays or by appointment and Includes War memorabilia. . Tlhe park was named "Stove Pipkin Park" in honor of prominent citizen "Steplheil Walker Pipkin" in 1920 who had been ins(runhental in the purchase of the land for (lie park. In 2003, city managemeot suggested that Pipkin Park be sold along with other small parks with low usage but the idea was rejected by City Council, In 2007 the park was renamed to "Pipkin Patriots Park" at Ills request of the DAR.
