BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it in the best interest of the citizens of
Beaumont, that the Project Safe Neighborhoods Block Grant Program (PSN) be
operated for fiscal year 2024; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager be and he or his designee is hereby authorized to
apply for and receive funding in an amount up to $70,000 from the United States
Department of Justice through the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal
Justice Division for fiscal year 2024, and
WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont agrees to provide applicable matching funds
for the said project as required by the Project Safe Neighborhoods Block Grant
Program; and
WHEREAS, in the event of loss or misuse of the 2024 Project Safe
Neighborhoods Block Grant Program funds, the City of Beaumont assures that funds
will be returned in full to the Office of the Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal
Justice Division;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT, the City Manager be and he or his designee is hereby designated as the
authorized official.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, the authorized official is given the power to
apply for, accept, reject, alter, or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency
from the Project Safe Neighborhoods Block Grant Program through the Office of the
Governor, Public Safety Office, Criminal Justice Division in the amount up to $70,000
for the purposes described herein.
The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in
strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter
551.
