BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
WHEREAS, on November 30, 2022, the City was made aware that a sewer main
failure under the Union Pacific Railroad had resulted in a cavity that formed in the street
at West Florida Avenue and Avenue A; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE.
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF.BEAUMONT:' • •
THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to execute art emergency
contract •with To-Mex Construction, LLC, of Houston, Texas in the amount of
$316,989.88 to complete repairs on the sewer,main. The.contract is substantially in the
form attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and made a part hereof for all purposes.
The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in
strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter
551. •

Re: Florida Ave Emergency Sewer Repair
This letter is to inform you that the City of Beaumont has been made aware of a sewer cavity forming in
the street at W. Florida Ave and Ave A, which is causing the street to collapse,
Aftei our investigation, it was determined the sewer main failed under the Union Pacify Railroad. We
are concerned that a complete collapse of the sewer main will do further damage to the street and possibly
damage the railroad tracks. We consider this a threat to public health and safety and must be corrected
immediately.
We have secured a Contractor, To-Mex Construction to complete the emergency repair in the amount of
$316,989.88.
