AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE. DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY
COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT, THE RECREATION DEPARTMENT AND THE
PARKS DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, in an effort to improve and enhance the services provided by the
City of Beaumont, the Administration is proposing three (3) new departments within the
organizational structure of the City; and,
WHEREAS, elevating City Communications to a department from a division will
ensure the continuation of recent improvements in delivering information and content to
our citizens through a variety of traditional and social media channels; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration is proposing to reorganize the Parks and
Recreation Department into two (2) departments, the Recreation Department will focus
solely on recreation, and the Parks Department will focus on maintaining and enhancing
park facilities, highway maintenance, and beautification.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDANIED BY THE
CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are
hereby, in all things, approved and adopted; and,
THAT establishing these three (3) new departments are to increase efficiency
within the organization and to provide better service to our citizens.
The meeting at which this ordinance was approved was in all things conducted in
strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter
551
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 10th day of
January, 2023.
