WHEREAS, on June 28, 2022, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas,
passed Resolution No. 22-160 authorizing the Interim City Manager to execute an
amendment to the Advance Funding Agreement (AFA) with the Texas Department of
Transportation (TxDOT) for the 2020 Highway Safety Improvements Program (HSIP)
Interconnect Signals Project; and,
WHEREAS, Vaca Underground Utilities, Inc., of Houston, Texas, the apparent
low bidder, submitted a bid totaling $850,170.00; and,
WHEREAS, the maximum Federal and State contribution for this project is
$660,290.00, therefore the City will be expected to fund the remaining $189,880.00;
and,
WHEREAS, City staff recommends the additional funding and providing
concurrence to TxDOT for awarding the contract to Vaca Underground Utilities, Inc., of
Houston, Texas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby,
in all things, approved and adopted; and,
THAT additional funding in the amount of $189,880.00 and concurrence to the
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for awarding the 2020 Highway Safety
Improvements Program (HSIP) Interconnect Signals Project to Vaca Underground
Utilities, Inc., of Houston, Texas, be and hereby are approved.
The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in
strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter
551.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 23rd day of
August, 2022.
