HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 21-020RESOLUTION NO. 21-020 WHEREAS, Provident Realty Advisors, Inc. has proposed a development for rental housing located at the Northeast corner of Pearl and Liberty Streets (285 Liberty and 341 Pearl) named Edson Lofts in the City of Beaumont; and, WHEREAS, Provident Realty Advisors, Inc. has communicated that it intends to submit an application to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) for Housing Tax Credits for Edson Lofts; and, WHEREAS, the City Council has considered the application and is of the opinion that the development is in the best interest of the City and should be supported solely and exclusively; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby, in all things, approved and adopted; and, THAT as provided for in 10 TAC §11.9(d)(1) of the Qualified Allocation Plan and in accordance with Texas Government Code §2306.6710(b) that the City of Beaumont, acting through its governing body, hereby confirms that it Supports the proposed Edson Lofts located at the Northeast corner of Pearl and Liberty Streets (285 Liberty and 341 Pearl) and that this formal action is being taken to put on record the opinion expressed herein by the City of Beaumont on February 2, 2021, and, THAT as provided in 10 TAC §11.9(d)(7)(A)(iv)(II) the City of Beaumont finds the proposed Edson Lofts project would contribute more than any other application to revitalization efforts within Downtown Beaumont, considered to be a Concerted Revitalization Plan (CRP) area, as reflected in the Downtown Beaumont Neighborhood Empowerment Zone Number Five as well as the Downtown Development Plan, 1985 and City in Motion Plan, 1987, and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City of Beaumont hereby supports solely and exclusively the proposed Edson Lofts, and confirms that the City Council has voted specifically to approve the construction of the Development and will commit to provide development funding in the form of a fee waiver of at least five hundred ($500) dollars; and, BE IT ALSO RESOLVED THAT, the City Manager is hereby authorized, empowered, and directed to certify this resolution to the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. The meeting at which this ordinance was approved was in all things conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
