HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 20-267RESOLUTION NO. 20-267 WHEREAS, on June 23, 2020, the City Council of the City of Beaumont, Texas passed Resolution No. 20-131 authorizing the City Manager to remove and store the Confederate Era statue located at Wiess Park in the City of Beaumont; and, WHEREAS, the statue was offered for sale with Lone Star Auctioneers, of Fort Worth, Texas; and, WHEREAS, Ronald L. Holmes, of Dallas, Texas, was the sole bidder with a bid price of $25,000.00; and, WHEREAS, City Council is of the opinion that the sale to Ronald L. Holmes, of Dallas, Texas, should be accepted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby, in all things, approved and adopted; and, THAT the City Manager be and he is hereby authorized to sale the Confederate Era statute formerly located at Wiess Park in the City of Beaumont to Ronald L. Holmes, of Dallas, Texas, in the amount of $25,000.00. The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551. PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Beaumont this the 24th day of November, 2020.
