AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE EMERGENCY POWERS AS
AMENDED FOR THE CITY OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS RELATING TO THE
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT NECESSITATED BY HURRICANE LAURA.
WHEREAS, on August 25, 2020, the Mayor issued an emergency powers order
requiring certain emergency measures be taken during the declared state of disaster made
necessary by Hurricane Laura; and,
WHEREAS, the conditions necessitating the continued emergency powers order
continue to exist for post -hurricane purposes;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED
BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS:
1. That the adopted emergency powers ordered as amended for the City of
Beaumont by the Mayor on August 25, 2020, shall continue until terminated by ordinance
of the City Council.
2. The emergency powers are further amended to remove the restrictions on
explosives and it is hereby rescinded.
3. As to competitive bidding, City Council is to be notified of any purchase made
that would otherwise be subject to the competitive bidding regulations.
4. This ordinance is passed as an emergency measure and pursuant to local
authority for emergency measures and shall become effective immediately upon passage.
