HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 20-099RESOLUTION NO.20-099 WHEREAS, bids were solicited for the restoration of the former community center located at Tyrell Park for a Visitors and Birding Center; and, WHEREAS, McInnis Construction, Inc. of Silsbee, Texas, submitted a bid in the amount of $1,473,000 for the Base Bid; Alternate Bid No. 1 in the amount of $12,000 for an ornate fence and gating between the existing door and window openings in a secured courtyard; Alternate Bid No. 2 in the amount of $20,600 for a six-foot vinyl coated security fence and a concrete mow strip to secure access to the courtyards; and, $12 per square foot for saw cutting, removing material, installation of 3/8" dowels, pouring and finishing concrete to match existing patterns at an estimated cost of $20,000; and, WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid submitted by McInnis Construction, Inc., of Silsbee, Texas, is the lowest responsible bidder providing the best value to the City and should be accepted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT: THAT the statements and findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby, in all things, approved and adopted; and, THAT the bid submitted by McInnis Construction, Inc. of Silsbee, Texas, submitted a bid in the amount of $1,473,000 for the Base Bid; Alternate Bid No. 1 in the amount of $12,000 for an ornate fence and gating between the existing door and window openings in a secured courtyard; Alternate Bid No. 2 in the amount of $20,600 for a six-foot vinyl coated security fence and a concrete mow strip to secure access to the courtyards; and, $12 per square foot for saw cutting, removing material, installation of 3/8" dowels, pouring and finishing concrete to match existing patterns at an estimated cost of $20,000 for the restoration of the former community center located at Tyrrell Park for the Visitors and Birding Center; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the City Manager is authorized to execute a contract with McInnis Construction, Inc., of Silsbee, Texas, in the amount of $1,473,000 for the Base Bid; Alternate Bid No. 1 in the amount of $12,000 for an ornate fence and gating between the existing door and window openings in a secured courtyard; Alternate Bid No. 2 in the amount of $20,600 for a six-foot vinyl coated security fence and a concrete mow strip to secure access to the courtyards; and, $12 per square foot for saw cutting, removing material, installation of 3/8" dowels, pouring and finishing concrete to match existing patterns at an estimated cost of $20,000 for the purposes described herein. The meeting at which this resolution was approved was in all things conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code, Chapter 551.
