A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, on the 16th day of August, 1976, the City of Beaumont recovered
judgment against W. ROYCE BERTRAND d/b/a UNIVERSITY FLORIST, in the sum
of THIRTY-ONE AND 02/100 ($31. 02) DOLLARS, plus interest thereon at the rate
of six (6%) per cent per annum from the date thereof, together with costs of Court,
said judgment being in Cause No. 34, 268, THE CITY OF BEAUMONT vs. W.
ROYCE BERTRAND d/b/a UNIVERSITY FLORIST, in the Justice Court, Precinct 1,
Place 1, of Jefferson County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, on the 25th day of May, 1961, the City of Beaumont recovered
judgment against RENZER LEWIS, in the sum of NINE HUNDRED TWENTY-SIX
AND 95/100 ($926. 95) DOLLARS, plus interest thereon at the rate of six (6%) per
cent per annum from the date thereof, together with costs of Court, said judgment
being in Cause No. D-33,313, THE CITY OF BEAUMONT vs. RENZER LEWIS, in
the 136th District Court of Jefferson County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the entire amount of the judgments adjudged in favor of the City
of Beaumont, together with interest and costs has been tendered and paid to the
City of Beaumont, and the City Council is of the opinion that a release of the said
judgments and all liens acquired by virtue of. said judgments should be executed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT;
That the City Manager, be and he is hereby authorized, for and in consideration of
the payment of said judgments, with interest and costs, to execute and deliver an
instrument to W. ROYCE BERTRAND d/b/a UNIVERSITY FLORIST and RENZER
LEWIS,. their heirs and assigns, releasing any rights and interest acquired by the
City of Beaumont by virtue of said above mentioned judgments; and the City Clerk
is hereby authorized to attest to said instrument and to affix the Seal of The City
of Beaumont thereto.
