RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, bids were received for cleaning and painting of the exterior
of the 1.5 M.G. Elevated Water Storage Tank located at 3705 E. Lucas
Street; and,
WHEREAS,. Southwest Industrial Coatings, Inc. submitted a bid in the
amount of Eighteen 'Thousand Four Hundred Forty -Two and No/100 ($18,442.00)
Dollars for the cleaning and painting of said exterior of the 1.5 M. G.
Elevated Water Storage Tank located at 3705 E. Lucas Street; and,
WHEREAS, the City was unable to obtain the necessary Certificate of
Insurance and Owner's Protective Liability Insurance Policy.from the
contractor; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid submitted by
Southwest Industrial Coatings, Inc. should be rejected; and,
WHEREAS, this project was readvertised and a bid in the amount of
Fifteen Thousand Eight Hundred Ninety and No/100 ($15,890.00) Dollars was
received frau Virginia Erection Company; and,
WHEREAS, the bid of Virginia Erection Company is the lowest and best
bid received on this project;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the bid of Southwest Industrial Coatings, Inc. in the amount of
$18,442.00 be rejected by the City of Beaumont, and the City Manager is
hereby authorized to execute a contract with Virginia Erection Company in
the amount of $15,890.00 with 45 days to complete the herein described
project.
