RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, bids were received for furnishing Laboratory Equipment
for the Regional Crime Laboratory to be housed in the Beaumont Police
Department; said equipment to be funded in total by the Criminal Justice
Department, Office of the Governor; and,
WHEREAS,.American Optical Corporation submitted a bid in the amount
of Eight Thousand Seven Hundred Eighty -Four and No/100 ($8,784.00)
Dollars for Item l,.one (1) comparison microscope to be used in the
Beaumont Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, Fisher Scientific submitted a bid in the amount of Twenty -
Four 'Thousand One Hundred Eighty -Five and No/100 ($24,185.00) Dollars
for Items 2 through 8, one (1) stereoscopic microscope, one (1) top -
loading balance, one '(1) analytical balance, one (1) PH meter/probe, one
(1) vacuum pump,furniture and fixtures for the main laboratory, and
furniture for the secondary (g.c.) laboratory to be used in the Beaumont
Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that the bid from
American Optical Corporation for Item 1 is the only bid received and
should be accepted, and the bid from Fisher Scientific for Items 2
through 8 is the lowest and best bid received and should be accepted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the bid of American Optical in the amount of $8,784.00 and the
bid of Fisher Scientific in the amount of $24,185.00 be accepted by the
City of Beaumont, and the appropriate City official is hereby authorized
to make payment upon proper delivery.
