WHEREAS, the acquisition of Lots 569 through 573 of Block 6
and all of..Block 18 of the Original Townsite of Beaumont is essen-
ti,al to the placement, construction, location,and maintenance of a
City Hall and City Auditorium and such uses and improvements ancillary
thereto, including, but not limited to, parking, lighting, utilities,
items and plant life of�beautification and recreation, and is consi-
dered to be in the best interest of The City of Beaumont and the citi-
zenry thereof; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the appraisal reports
of said land submitted by Mr. M. L. Lefler, Jr. and Mr. Jack C. Aul-
baugh and has authorized.certain offers to be made to the owners of
the land to be so acquired;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL'OF THE CITY OF BEAUMONT:
THAT the City Manager or his designee, be., and he is hereby, directed
to commence negotiations with the property owners of the hereinabove
described land as may be necessary for the hereinabove described pur
pose and to pay such moving costs to owners as may be required by law,
to the end that The City of Beaumont shall acquire the land necessary
to accomplish said purpose, and.to the further end that property owners
thereof shall receive the.fair cash value for their property.
