WHEREAS, the City of Beaumont is the owner of an airport
known as the Beaumont Municipal Airport; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is of the opinion that goals should
be established for the airport's future development;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BEAU.MONT:
THAT the following persons are appointed to serve as an Airport Advi-
sory Committee for a term of three (3) years and can be reappointed:
and,
Pat Phelan
Gilbert Adams, Sr.
Larry Parks
George Ingram
Dr. James Massey
W. C. Ross, Jr.
Leo Lemell
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Gilbert Adams, Sr. shall serve as
Chairman of said committee; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that one non-voting ex -officio member
of this committee shall be appointed by the Mayor from the members of
the City Council, to represent the City Council; and,
BE IT FURTHER'RESOLVED that the Director of Traffic and Trans-
portation, or an authorized representative from the Traffic Engineering
staff, shall serve as Secretary of the committee, and the duties of the
Secretary of the committee shall be as follows: `
1. Serve as a non-voting member of the committee;
2. Attend all meetings of the committee and of its ap-
pointed committees and provide general assistance as
needed by such committees;
3. Maintain a record of all activities of the committee;
4. Provide the committee. with all information necessary
for the performance of its duties;
5. Submit a proposed Agenda to the committee chairman and
members;
and,
7. Coordinate the attendance of staff personnel of.
the City;.
8. Introduce items on the Agenda and present applicable
information as shall be necessary to aid in resolv-
ing airport problems in its proceedings;
9. Provide such clerical -administrative support as re-
quired by the committee in its proceedings; and
10. Arrange for all meetings to be held as directed by
the Chairman of the committee or of the Secretary
member.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Airport Advisory Committee
shall have the following duties and responsibilities:
and,
1. To be an advisory board to the City Council and the
City Manager;
2. To recommend airport objectives to the City of Beau-
mont for Beaumont Municipal Airport;
3. To assist the City Council and the City Manager's
staff in planning for a continuing program of airport
development;
4. To meet as,required by the Chairman of the committee,
or the Secretary; and
5. To keep the City Council and the,City Manager's staff
informed of current airport trends, and to recommend
changes and improvements which will update the airport
services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said committee is requested to
study the needs of the Beaumont Municipal Airport and to make recom-
mendations to the City Council for its future development.
